SEPTEMBER 28th, 2010
Today marks an historic day in the world of professional wrestling. Two of this sport's most popular promotions, SWA and OWW TakeDown, have just signed a partnership agreement that will see talent from each promotion cross over. OWW TakeDown schedules one show per month, and SWA is currently at 2 shows per month. With a cross over between the companies, this means there will be plenty of new opportunities for your favorite (and most hated) stars from SWA and TakeDown to appear on TV.
As the contracts were signed, management from both companies made brief comments to the press. TakeDown owner Matt Ashburn made this statement to the press earlier today
Matt Ashburn: "Contary to some unfounded speculation from 'fans', I'm not only in charge of Takedown just to ensure The Golden Age gets what its rightfully deserved for years. No, see, I'd also like to cause a little chaos - purely for my own amusement. Do I like the majority of my roster? Hell no I don't! I want to see their faces contorted in agony, I want to see their dreams crushed. I'd watched SWA a few times during my hiatus from the ring and was fairly impressed by some of its wrestlers. And Takedown is just lacking the kinda havoc that I enjoy. So me and the head of SWA came to an agreement - a talent exchange project if you will. Some of their guys will be coming over to Takedown to stir things up a little. I'm looking forward to seeing how my own roster responds to the influx of talent...
SWA Owner and General Manager The Rev had this to say.
Rev: "My roster has to work an extra day a month, and I don't have to pay for it? How could I refuse? The only thing better than seeing my talent put their bodies, careers and lives on the line will be seeing them do it under another manager's watch. Let TakeDown worry about disability coverage once a month. I'm all for saving a buck. But these guys had better not disappoint me. Whoever chooses to appear on TakeDown needs to remember where their loyalties lie. We're representing SWA here, and I better see my guys putting them to shame. Traditional SWA rules still apply off site. You disappoint, you lose your thumbs."
The deal between SWA and TakeDown is still in the early stages of planning, and it's unknown how many roster members from either side will choose to cross over. One star however has already signed a cross promotional deal. Last week TakeDown legend Wade Wilson became the first to sign a deal with SWA, and rumor has it SWA wrestler and resident financial advisor, Chip Pekurny is scheduled to meet with Matt Ashburn to discuss his cross promotional contract later this week.
SWA Sunday Night Fever airs next on October the 3rd. All management are expected to be in attendance and making further statements. The same can be expected on OWW TakeDown which will air next at the end of October.
