World Wrestling Entertainment has signed Ring of Honor champion Tyler Black a contract, according to multiple sources within the company. At least one WWE source has indicated that Black will be starting officially with WWE in September. I believe Black will be signing a developmental deal, but I don't have that 100% confirmed.
Black, 26, has been with Ring of Honor since 2007 and won the ROH championship in February 2010 from Austin Aries, He is also a former ROH Tag Team champion.
Black has several title defenses scheduled for August and September, including a defense against Davey Richards in Charlotte, NC.
ROH owner Cary Silkin issued a "no comment" when contacted this morning about Black signing.

I am mixed about this. It is a nice way to get Tyler recognized, but ROH needs him as a main eventer. Unless they make Davey Richards a 100% face they lack any face main eventers.
I am still shocked WWE has not went after Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli. Hero has improved greatly and Claudio is a good sized boy, but is not a musclehead. Even if they are not a team in WWE I think they will be good of WWE to have.

I just hope WWE doesn't put him on NXT and change his name to something stupid like Cliff Flannigan, like they did with Joe Hennig. Seriously Michael McGillicutty, how do you get that out of Joe Hennig.
Anyways, I have only seen some of Black's work, but he's an impressive in ring talent and has a good look. I think he could go far if handled properly, but who am I kidding this is WWE, so watch for NXT season 3 featuring Cliff Flannigan, otherwise known as Tyler Black.
