"This week Captain Insanity and I cross paths once again. I still remember the first time our paths crossed in the EWC. My opinion of you has changed some since then. I thought you were simply just an adrenaline junkie. Just some sick freak who enjoyed inflicting pain on others. For what it's worth, I don't think that is who you are. I believe that may have been who you were once upon a time, but now you are simply scrambling for a legacy. You want to be remembered for your extreme ways. I can certainly understand the need for a legacy, as no one wants to be forgotten. I would suggest to you that the only thing worse than being forgotten, is forgetting who you are. You have said that the past is not worth remembering, but without your past you would have no legacy. This is what drives me. For better or worse, you know who you are. You do not have to be plagued with doubts concerning your true character. You do not have to question your every impulse, and live in fear of your past. It has been said that those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. This is where I find myself now. In trying to learn what legacy I have left behind, I fear I am simply repeating my mistakes of the past, but I do not know how to stop.
Of course this match thrusts us straight into your Extreme Combat element. Strange for Rev and Gladiator to book such a match so close to the PPV. I can only assume that this is just a way to try and cripple me and prevent me from achieving my goal at Apocalypse Now. As much as The Sedition does not want Ian DeTornado holding the gold, I am sure they want me holding it even less. The best way to ensure that I don't win, is to book me against the most violent man in this business. I will admit in the field of Extreme Combat I am no match for you. I have no experience fighting with flaming tables, or Lions and Tigers and Bears. I have looked into the archives as you suggested, and I have seen what you are capable of. You are a man to be feared, but I believe the one thing we can both agree on is, you are not the man you used to be. As much as you refuse to admit it, your edge has diminished. I will not go as far as to say that your edge is gone, but diminished it has. If I were facing the Captain Insanity of old, I am convinced that I would not be leaving the ring without a broken bone, but I am not facing him. I am facing the Captain Insanity who is clinging to past glory, and drinking his sorrow away. This Captain Insanity I believe I can stand toe to toe with. I may not do as much damage as you will, and I may leave the ring hurt, but I will leave with my hand, and my head held high."
