New Spiderman

[Teen Throb]

So this is the new Spiderman. An unknown named Andrew Garfield. Never seen him in anything yet. I'm sure he's a good actor. Only one problem.



The studio, producers, director, and Marvel have all said over and over again that they wanted to reboot the series as a young teenage Spiderman. It's going to be about a high school kid with super powers. This guy is already 26. By the time the movie is released in 2012 he'll be 28. By the time the first sequel comes out he'll already be 30. Are they ditching the idea of a teenage superhero? This dude looks way too old to be playing 16. He's actually older than Tobey Maguire was when he first played Spiderman. I'm sure he's a descent actor but this is either terrible casting for a teenage spiderman or they should have just kept the story as him as a college kid.

Geez, he's my age. I certainly couldn't pass for a high school kid. I could never buy him as a high school kid. Tobey Maguire still looks like he's 12 years old, they should have just stuck with him. Why don't they just call this "reboot" what it is, a remake of the first Spiderman movie.

Terrible casting. Just awful.

They are trying to go in the Ultimate Spiderman direction here, and its a nice idea. But this is terrible casting.

Should've have just gotten the kid from Kickass. He can act, and he looks the part.

I also hope whoever directs doesn't Sam Romi it. Make it all serious and shit. Seriously, across three movies SPIDERMAN didn't make one fucking quip.

One interesting thing is that they apparently offered a handful of actors the same deal at the same time, including Josh Hutcherson and Jamie Bell, and each of them were given the same offer. Garfield was the one that agreed to the lowest salary, as he's only getting $500,000 for the movie, which is incredibly low for a big franchise. With his age I'm expecting another reboot in 8 more years.
