I will refrain from commenting on what happened on the show in case any west coasters are around and don't want it spoiled.
I am not a very big tv watcher. There are few shows that I actually watch and only one show that I can honestly say I would never miss a single episode of and that's 24. Since season 2 I have watched every single episode. Now that the show is over there will be a huge gap in my Monday nights from January to May, and a huge gap under the Christmas tree since Rev always buys me the 24 box set for Christmas.
I for one am disappointed that the show is over, but very happy that it ended on a strong note. Though this season is far from the best, it was also far from the worst. The last 8 episodes this season have been some of the best the show has ever had.
Thankfully the 24 movie will be in production and hopefully released in 2011, but it will still never be the same.

I've been following this show pretty much from the beginning as well. The finale was exactly the way it needed to end, while still keeping it open for the movies. It's an interesting situation to be in where the show has to be wrapped up, but you know in another year or two you're right back into the story again in a different medium. One thing I loved about the final few episodes is how they let you see what Jack Bauer was really like when cut loose. All these years people have talked about what he's really capable of, and now we'veseen a glimpse of how violent and brutal he can really be when pushed too far. This season took a little too long to get to the point, and it did borrow too much from previous ideas on the show, but the way the final few hours wrapped things up was very different. Now that the script is already written for the movie, it shouldn't be long before Jack Bauer is back.
On the flip side, I also watched the Lost finale, which was different from 24 in that they knew this would be the end. I just wish some of the unanswered questions that have been introduced in the last 6 years would have been answered. It was literally 2 hours of action without any answers, followed by a cheesy twist that more or less ruined the best part of this season.
