Everyone has probably read the announcement that the Spring Breakdown PPV will be an open tournament to decide a new SWA Champion. If not.... then the Spring Breakdown PPV will be an open tournament to decide a new SWA Champion. Here are some OOC details for everyone.
This is an open tournament, so anyone is welcome to participate. This is for SWA members, so if new people come in wishing to compete, they just need to create a profile.
The entire PPV will be the tournament, from first round to the last. None of the matches will be announced beforehand. The reason for this is because we want everyone to have a fair chance. If we have a sign up and book matches based on that, someone may get lucky with a no shower as their opponent, thereby giving them an automatic bye to the next round. The tournament is kind of a gimmick for on screen only. The actual RP rules will be more similar to a Battle Royal. You just write your RPs for the whole event, then based on staff voting, we rank the semi finalists, then finalists. The amount of matches will be based on the amount of people that RP for the show. If 8 post, then we have 4 regular matches. If 9 post, then we have 3 regular matches and one triple threat.
Because the tournament match-ups all depend on who actually ends up RPing, there will be a 48 hour wait between the RP deadline and the PPV results. Once all the RPs are up, we the staff need to decide on the winners, pair people up, then write ALL the matches. This will take some time.
Even though an official sign up is not needed, since only those who RP will be written into the tournament, I'd still like a general idea of who might be in. Even just to give us a rough idea of how many matches we might have. If you think you will be RPing for this event, reply to this thread. Also reply with any questions.
