First allow me to say that by and large I find the WWE product to be lame, and uninspired. For years I have been bored by the same old, same old. John Cena is the underdog... John Cena is going to lose... John Cena overcomes the odds... John Cena will never give up. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.... How lame! If a guy overcomes impossible odds all the time, doesn't he cease to be an underdog. How many times do we have to see the same thing over and over again. Isn't it time for something new?
Enter, CM Punk. A man perpetually on the brink of superstardom, but ultimately held back. A man who is the complete package. He is great in the ring, he has a superstar look, and him mic abilities are unmatched in wrestling today. It is this man who brought life back to the WWE product in the last 4 weeks. 3 weeks back he cut a jaw-droppingly good promo, that set the wrestling world ablaze. He broke the fourth wall, broke kayfabe, and even mentioned other organizations. He has single handedly made the WWE watchable again.
But alas, he is likely on his way out, and the backdrop storyline... John Cena the underdog must overcome the odds... Blah... way to screw that one up WWE. That being said I am more interested in this PPV than any other in recent memory.
Here are my predictions:
WWE Championship Match
John Cena vs. CM Punk
Prediction: CM Punk Wins
Some may say I'm crazy for picking CM Punk to win... we call those people retarded. Let's get real here. Notice the wording on the stipulation for the match, "If CM Punk leaves as champion John Cena is fired". If John Cena was going to win this match they would say "If John Cena loses". Let's remember someone from Raw will be able to cash in a money in the Bank. My prediction is CM Punk wins, only to have the winner of the Raw MITB match cash in and win. Since CM Punk has twice won the title by doing just that it will bring everything full circle.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Randy Orton vs. Christian
Prediction: Randy Orton wins
It saddens me to say this, but WWE seems determined to turn Orton into the Friday Night Cena. WWE has proven in the past few months, that heel or face, they are not ready to back Christian. They have done there best to make him look weak, and Orton look strong. The way they have stacked the deck against Orton in this match just screams underdog comeback ala John Cena. I would love to see WWE give Christian a legit run at the top, but I've been burned too many times hoping for that to happen. Don't get me worng, I like Orton, I just don't like the WWE trying to cram him down peoples throats. Plus I've been one of Christian's peeps since his Brood days. I can't turn on him now.
Raw Money In The Bank Match
Jack Swagger vs. Evan Bourne vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio vs. The Miz vs. Alex Riley vs. R Truth vs. Kofi Kingston
Prediction: Alberto Del Rio Wins
I am not a big fan of MITB matches. It's usually just a spot fest, that defies logic, and guys has lying on the ground for 5 minutes at a time just to prevent the ring from being too congested. Seriously, if you had a chance to get a guaranteed title shot, would you just lie on the ground while someone else climbs a ladder. That being said I like this line up. Mysterio is getting pretty stale, and A-Ri has never really interested me, but everyone else is good. I see Del Rio as the logical winner, and I believe he will win, and then cash in the shot against CM Punk, and leave MITB as WWE Champ. According to insiders, Del Rio has now twice missed his chance at being champ. Originally he was supposed to win the title at TLC, but they went with Edge instead. Then he was supposed to win at Wrestlemania, but they decided to let Edge retire as champ. It's his time. He is ready, and will make a great champion.
Smackdown Money In The Bank Match
Wade Barrett vs. Justin Gabriel vs. Heath Slater vs. Sin Cara vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Kane vs. Sheamus
Prediction : Sheamus Wins
Again, not a huge fan of this type of match, but I really like this line up. Kane isn't as good as he was last year when he won the match, and the title, but he serves a purpose in this type of match. Heath Slater could cease to exist, and I wouldn't care at all. Aside from that, this should be a good match. I would love to see Barrett get the win. He has been so mishandled since arriving on Smackdown, it has turned my stomach. He spent the second half of last year as the premiere heel in the WWE and pulled it off brilliantly. This guy is a megastar, and should be at the top. Unfortunately I think he has been buried on Smackdown for too long to get the win here. Sheamus seems almost to predictable as a winner here, but WWE usually is pretty predictable. Barrett is my wishful thinking sleeper pick, but Sheamus is the likely winner here.
Big Man Filler Match
The Big Slow vs. Mark Henry
Prediction: No Contest
I have never kept my disdain for The Big Slow a secret. I have never seen anything entertaining about him, not even in his WCW days. That being said, if he must be around then this is how he should be used. They finally dropped his happy go lucky, cornball comedy act, and made him a beast. I still think he sucks though. Mark Henry is another guy that I think is lame, and has never been entertaining. This is the guy that once fathered Mae Young's hand (look it up on You Tube, worst storyline ever). However I really like how he has been used lately. I think this one will be a brawl that gets out of hand. The rivalry will continue with no man getting the win.
Barbie Doll Championship Match
Kelly Kelly vs. Brie Bella
Prediction: Someone will win, and no one will care
Seriously... who cares. This match is on the card only to provide a bathroom break between MITB matches. I have never enjoyed women's wrestling, but I don't think it has ever been worse than it is now. All they do now is hire models, teach them a bodyslam and a suplex and call them wrestlers. Do I care who wins? No. Does anyone else care who wins? No! Will I make a legitimate prediction? Refer to my answer to the last two questions.
All in all, this PPV is about one thing and one thing only, CM Punk. I really hope that if he does leave, which it seems like he will, that it won't be for long. In the past month he has singlehandedly revived my interest in WWE, and I am willing to bet I'm not the only person of that opinion. Let him take a break, than get him a new contract, that guarantees him everything he wants. He should be the next Steve Austin if they would just unleash him. Will I pay to see this PPV? Ha, yeah right. I haven't paid for a WWE PPV since 2001. Will I torrent it at the first opportunity? You betcha!
